Yet again the sun shone on York Fair Trade Forum’s stall, this time at Rowntree Park’s Big Birthday Bash. The Park was celebrating its 95th birthday and the fair teemed with people of all ages enjoying the weather and the many attractions. We’ve experienced holding stalls in storms, icy temperatures and gales, so we were delighted that all we had to contend with here was the odd gust of wind. And the unexpected baa-ing of sheep at a neighbouring stall – a local wool-based artisan had brought some of the raw material to be admired!
A good number of passers-by stopped to have a chat and look at our stand, which included information leaflets about fair trade, campaign cards to sign, our new book Fair’s Fair, and some beautiful crafts from Selby’s All’s Fair shop. The Lucky Dip was particularly popular with the children. All in all, a lovely day and great to see so many people enjoying themselves in the sunshine. Let’s hope we get similar conditions for our next stall, at Woodthorpe Family Fun Day on Saturday 13th August (12-6pm).
