We are delighted that this year’s Yorkshire conference for Fairtrade supporters is happening right here in York. The event is a unique opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers, network with fellow campaigners and take part in workshops and debates. It’s a great time to share your challenges, learn from each other’s successes and regain momentum and enthusiasm for your campaign. The keynote speaker will be Chief Adam Tampuri, the Chair of Fairtrade Africa Network. He is a cashew and shea nut producer and co-founder of the Gbankuliso Cashew Farmers’ Association in Ghana. Adam is a member of the Fairtrade International Climate Change Working Group, representing African producers at United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meetings. He is a charismatic speaker and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. With workshops on the history of the Fairtrade movement, church action and engagement and a panel discussion with Fair Trade stakeholders, the Yorkshire conference promises to be an illuminating and inspiring event. And you get a free vegetarian lunch!
The event is taking place at the Priory Street Centre just off Micklegate, a central and accessible community-led venue, on Saturday 19 September.
